May 7, 2020

I am happy to report that Bishop Parkes has requested that every parish begin the celebration of daily Mass effective Monday, May 11, 2020.  He has asked each pastor to review and develop individual plans for their parish.  Outlined below are particular points for St. Raphael.

Regarding Daily Mass

  • We will resume our regular daily Mass schedule.  That includes Monday through Saturday at 8am, Wednesday night at 7pm.  We will also return to all day Exposition on Wednesday.
  • Those attending Mass are encouraged to wear face masks and bring personal sanitizer.  Sanitizer stations remain available in the main entrance of the church.
  • Sections of pews will be marked “closed” to allow for proper social distancing.  Families may sit together in designated areas.
  • Marks on the floor will be in place for Communion lines and Confession lines.
  • Gifts will not be brought forward and the sign of peace will be offered with a gesture.
  • Communion will be distributed in the hand and Clergy and Ministers offering Communion will be wearing masks to allow individuals to remove their mask to receive communion.

Other Notes

  • Although we have returned to daily Mass, the facilities are not reopening for general use or routine use; however, we are making arrangements for special events like 1st Communion and Graduation.
  • Confessions will be offered in the confessionals after Saturday 8am morning Mass.
  • Funerals and Weddings will be offered with similar restrictions as above.  Contact the Parish Office for specific planning with clergy.
  • Baptisms are once again available on Sunday morning at 10:00am.  They will move to 10:45am when Sunday Mass resumes. Contact the parish office for further information.
  • Hymnals have been removed.  For those who prefer to follow along with Mass may bring their own Missal or view the prayers on your personal mobile device.
  • The church will remain open for private prayer with the current schedule.  Monday through Friday following Mass until 4pm.  Saturday until Noon and Sunday from Noon to 5pm.
  • When we begin Sunday Mass, we will update these procedures.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Tim Sherwood
