Dear high school/junior high parents:  Welcome to Summer 2010! Praying for blessings upon our families this summer,
I look forward to the joy of serving our Christian community as the new
youth minister here at St. Raphael’s. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
I would love to express my thanksgiving and support to you as parents. What a joyful opportunity you have to point the way to Christ, who blesses us abundantly with His gifts. As John Paul II says, parents are, through the witness of their lives, the first heralds of the Gospel for their children. By praying with their children and introducing them deeply into the Body of Christ, parents become fully parents, “begetters not only of bodily life but also of the life that through the Spirit’s renewal flows from the Cross and Resurrection of Christ.” Parents want nothing less than the best for their children; parents want their children not simply to survive or get by, but to flourish. The Church – the family of God – also seeks this for her children. |

Our common goal – as youth ministers and parents – is to bring young people to that place wherein human persons flourish: communion, conversation, relationship with God. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your love and support and I look forward to working with you in helping our teens draw closer to Christ. ROCK THE UNIVERSE: TEEN TIMELINE BIBLE STUDY: Our summer weekly Bible study – open to all 6th-12th grade youth and their parents – continues this coming week. On Wednesday, August 4, we will meet at 7:30 PM (right after Mass) in Meeting Room B here at St. Raphael’s. Come join us for a fun, exciting time as Christ comes to meet us in His Word and we deepen our relationship with Him.
LIFE NIGHTS for high school students kick off Sunday, August 29! Our Activities.... Stay tuned for announcements at Mass, online, and in the bulletin to hear about summer activities for the youth. In addition to the Steubenville Youth Conference in July, we’ll meet up for fun times at the beach, Rays games, and Bible study! LIFETEEN (grades 9-12) and EDGE (grades 6-8) nights will kick off in August. Below are some of our "annual" youth ministry activities....come join us!
